Looking rather like a bigger and more complex version of their portable recorders
the Nagra T is another essay in machined and fabricated alloy. As with all Nagra
equipment (and any properly designed piece of professional equipment), the T-
Audio is very easy to get inside for maintenance or adjustment:

The tape deck hinges up and locks open (and has its own prop), two quarter turn
quick-release fastners allow the back panel to hinge down, undo another pair of
quick-release fastners and the front plate comes off. The main printed circuit
boards and power supply pull out from the front of the machine, and the control
panel un-plugs (and may easily be remotely mounted).

The machine is the usual subtle Nagra mix of simple screw fastners and expensive
CNC machined and anodized light alloy. Not a thought seems to have been given to
any form of cost saving, value engineering, or indeed 'styling' (whoopee). This is
pure and un-compromising form following function, and is the very antithesis of the
modern 'designer' style-over-substance approach of curvy silver painted, injection
moulded plastic.

This is actually the real thing, and I for one think it is quite lovely.
