To save space (and cost?), these cameras did not include inbuilt sync generators, and were supplied
with horizontal and vertical drive signals by the attached video recorder.

The camera drives were generated electromagnetically by a frequency generator built into the video
recorder's free-running head drum. This meant that the camera and recorder were synced together, and
moderately decent (by the standards of the time) assemble edits could be made with the minimum of
electronics.
A compact interior, in this picture one may clearly see the viewfinder's tiny cathode ray tube.

Actually, this condensed layout proved to be a little too compact for reliability, as the high voltage
static charge near the CRT's anode cap was often found to 'zap' an adjacent integrated circuit...
